Today I want to introduce you to Coutrney Cole! Courtney has an incredible voice and she is gorgeous!! This girl has the looks and the sound! We chatted with Courtney about her music career, CMA Fest 2016, touring with Miranda Lambert and so much more! You're going to want to read on to find out more about Courtney and how to keep up with her! NN: Thanks so much for doing an interview with me! First, can you tell us a little bit about yourself, where you grew up, how you got into the music industry, and anything else that will help us get to know you better? Courtney: Thanks so much for the interview! I grew up in a little marina town right north of New Orleans, called Mandeville. There is just so much music around everywhere in New Orleans, all kinds of music! Music has always been my passion, and i wanted to pursue it from a very young age. When I turned 18, I moved to Nashville, and studied music at Belmont, and began working several odd jobs in the industry and in retail. Meanwhile, I would write in the evenings or in any spare time I had. I finally got my 1st publishing deal and I felt like I had made it! At least I could quit one of the jobs I had :) NN: You recently released a new self titled EP featuring the song "Ladylike" (my favorite) and others, what was your favorite song to have written on the EP and why? What was the story behind that song? Courtney: It's hard for me to pick a favorite, because I am truly so proud of this EP.. However, "Ladylike" has so much personality and represents my "what you see is what you get" side. The song came about when I was recording a vocal for another song and I made a noise in the mic... I won't say what kind of noise :). The engineer said "oh wow Courtney, that's ladylike..." I thought .... "I should write that!" NN: Here is Courtney singing "Ladylike" acoustically for Stage Right Secrets! NN: You have had some great accomplishments such as signing with Warner/Chappell, being chosen for the CMT's Next Women of Country, what is one things you have loved to be able to cross off of your music career bucket list and what is one thing you hope to cross off? Courtney: Yes! Teaming up with Warner/Chappell is a true dream, I love being a part of that family. CMT has been wonderful to me with Next Women of Country and I've also been a part of their Empowering Education Initiatives. Another thing I have loved to cross off is opening for Miranda Lambert. Miranda has been an inspiration to me for years, and it was so surreal to be sharing the stage with her! Some other things I look forward to crossing off are playing the Opry, and being nominated for a CMA or ACM Award! NN: You toured with Miranda Lambert and opened on the "Roadside Bars and Pink Guitar Tour", I'm sure being on the road with her and other artists you were given some good advice about your career, what was the best piece of advice you received while being on that tour? Courtney: Being on the road with all of these lovely ladies was an incredible experience. I learned more than I ever thought I could. I was basically a sponge just trying to soak it all in. The best advice was not really given to me verbally, but in the example that Miranda set. She is still so humble, gracious, and approachable, but also takes control over her career. It was so good for me to see someone at her level being such a strong leader. It's something I am to be everyday. NN: If you could do a duet or collaboration with anyone in the country music industry, who would you choose and why? Courtney: Shania Twain. Does that really need an explanation?! Ha! Her energy, her beauty, her voice, her songs! I used to wanna be just like her... still do!! NN:What would you tell people when asked what makes you different or unique from other women in country music? Courtney: I'm honest in all of the music I create. I want to create songs that show my imperfections, and show the goofy/fun-loving side as well as the occasional emotional side. I want little girls to see themselves in my songs. NN: Will you be partaking in CMA Fest in 2016? (For selfish reasons I want to know because I'm coming, but also readers will want to know where to watch you!) Courtney: I'm sure I'll be at CMA Fest in some way in 2016. We are still working on what that will be. Hopefully, I'll see you there!
