THE RAISING OF THE LARGEST TOURING TENT IN THE WORLD MARKS THE OFFICIAL ARRIVAL OF THE SHOW AHEAD OF THE AUGUST 30 OPENING NIGHT
NASHVILLE, TN – (Tuesday, August 1, 2017) #OdysseoTN – The most impressive and immense big top on the planet – part of the largest touring production ever created - has been raised in Nashville (near Opryland by Briley Parkway at exit 12),in preparation for the much-anticipated Tennessee debut of Odysseo, an exceptional theatrical adventure by Cavalia. Imagined by Normand Latourelle - one of the co-founders of Cirque du Soleil - the $30 million extravaganza that expands the definition of performance into an epic, yet soulful theatrical experience will open under the gigantic White Big Top August 30, with matinee and evening shows scheduled through September 10. Yesterday, at the show's site, Claudia Huskey(Senior Advisor to the Mayor of Nashville), Robert Swope (District 4 Council Member) and John Adams (Gaylord Opryland VP & Market General Manager)joined Normand Latourelle (Cavalia Founder and Artistic Director) for brief remarks about the excitement of bringing such a unique production to Music City. Huskey, Swope, Adams, and Latourelle, alongside District 15 Council Member Jerry Syracuse, cut the symbolic ribbon heralding the official arrival of the production in Nashville.
While the White Big Top rose to the sky, guests and members of the press toured the impressive site that will soon host the epic experience Odysseo by Cavalia - a breathtaking production featuring more than 100 horses, riders, acrobats, dancers, aerialists and musicians. Standing 125 feet tall and covering a surface area of 58,397 square feet - the size of a football field - Odysseo’s exceptional White Big Top is a mix of art, technology and advanced engineering. In order to break through the limitations of standard big top tents, allow for more flexibility in the performance area, and to give the horses the space they need to express themselves in all their beauty, Normand Latourelle partnered with specialized companies in Europe and Canada to create the high-tech structure. By removing the usual supporting masts from the stage and shifting the weight of the structure from the masts to three arches above the tent, this specially designed White Big Top is the best environment for the horses and acrobats to perform breathtaking numbers and for the creative team to design immense staging.
This unprecedented ‘traveling theatre’ is also composed of several exceptional features including its grandiose stage – larger than The Predators ice rink – that enables large-scale, cutting-edge creative performances. Faced by bleachers with 2,074 seats, just like an auditorium setting, the 17,500-square-foot stage requires 10,000 tons of stone, earth and sand to create so that it offers nature on stage, a vast space of freedom where more than 100 two and four-legged stars can display their intimate collaboration.
The multi-dimensional and magical world of Odysseo is conjured through images of the most beautiful landscapes from around the world, projected onto an 8,400-square-foot screen, a feast for the eyes with staggering effects created by state-of-the-art scenery. Odysseo’s technical grid, worthy of the largest permanent installations in Las Vegas, New York or London, can support 80 tons of equipment for the stage needs of the show, including a majestic life-sized merry-go-round.
During the breathtaking finale, a vertiginous virtual waterfall overhangs a lake made possible by an underground drain system that releases 40,000 gallons of recycled water onto the stage, in which horses, riders and artists join to frolic, leaving behind them the traces of their splashes—and an astonished audience.
The White Big Top is just one part of a larger ensemble; the Odysseo village will take shape over the next few weeks and consists of five tents: the White Big Top, the stable tent, the Rendez-Vous VIP tent, the warm-up & artistic tent, and the kitchen tent serving the 200 permanent employees. In total, 110 semi-trailer trucks will be required to transport the world’s largest touring production to Nashville.
Odysseo is a veritable revolution in live entertainment that marries the equestrian arts, stage performances, and high-tech theatrical effects in never-before-seen ways.

Nashville, TN (June 27, 2017) - The inclement weather didn't dampen the spirits of country music fans who turned out to celebrate Utica, Michigan’s Bicentennial Anniversary with some great music from The Swon Brothers!
Before hitting the stage Friday evening, Zach and Colton had a chance to visit on air with WYCD's "Rob & Holly" on their afternoon show. The brothers performed songs from their latest ep, PRETTY COOL SCARS and talked about their new single "Don't Call Me," while promoting their concert for the city later that evening. Immediately following the radio show, Zach and Colton were whisked away to throw out the first pitch at Utica's new baseball facility, Jimmy John's Field, having been invited by Utica Mayor, Thom Dionne.
Initiative to raise awareness and support for self-employed music community in times of medical crisis, benefitting non-profit
Music Health Alliance

Nashville, TN – June 27, 2017 – Today, Music City Music Council Executive Director Justine Avila and Grammy® award winning artist Rodney Crowell joined Music Health Alliance Founder Tatum Allsep and board members Jay Williams (WME) and Kris Wiatr (Wiatr & Associates) at The Steps at WME to officially proclaim October 20 “Heal The Music Day” in Music City. The initiative, which will take place throughout the Nashville community, is an effort to raise awareness and support for the more than 56,000 people who make a living in the music industry, 76% of whom are self-employed or part of small business without access to group health benefits - including songwriters, producers, audio engineers, musicians, recording artists, publishers and more.
“It is my great pleasure to proclaim October 20th as 'Heal The Music Day' in recognition of Music Health Alliance’s work to connect some of the 56,000 Nashvillians in the music industry with doctors, medicine, health insurance and financial assistance during times of illness,” said Nashville Mayor Megan Barry. “So many of our artists, entertainers, songwriters, musicians, and crew are self-employed and go without access to high-quality health insurance. 'Heal The Music Day' is about giving back and showing we care about those who put the music in Music City.”
“Heal The Music Day” is the one day a year where everyone involved in the creative community can give back to a non-profit organization that gives to them each and every day throughout the year. Rodney Crowell is leading the charge to raise awareness and create an annual endowment benefitting Music Health Alliance, whose free services connect the music industry with access to doctors and hospitals, life-saving medicine, health insurance and financial assistance during times of illness.
As advocates, Music Health Alliance fights so those in our industry never have to feel alone in a health crisis. The six-person team at Music Health Alliance remove obstacles so patients can receive lifesaving care. Thanks to the direct efforts of Music Health Alliance, members of the music community across the country have gained access to lifesaving heart and liver transplants, medications to treat Parkinson’s, end of life care and many other necessary services. Since 2013, Music Health Alliance has saved over $16 million dollars in medical bills and reduced premiums and served over 5,600 people in the music community. Its services are free to any person who has worked in the music industry for two or more years, or who has credited contributions to 4 commercially released recordings or videos. Spouses, partners, and children of qualifying individuals may also receive access to the non-profit’s services from birth to end of life. Two of Music Health Alliance’s clients – Andrea Davidson and Rory Feek – joined Crowell onstage today to personally share their stories and the care they received during their own health crises.
“There is no other city in the world like Nashville where our namesake and greatest natural resource is music,” said Allsep. “’Heal The Music Day’ is a way to ensure that our city’s music professionals have access to life-saving healthcare not easily accessible by small business owners or the self-employed including our beloved Opry Members, session musicians and songwriters. With the uncertain landscape of healthcare today and impending healthcare legislation, the unique programs and services provided by Music Health Alliance are more important to our music community than ever before. No one in the music industry should ever have to choose between food and medicine. With the community’s support of ‘Heal The Music Day,’ together we can make sure that this is a choice that never has to be made.”
“‘Heal The Music Day’ as an opportunity to educate the Nashville music community on how not-for-profit Music Health Alliance helps our work force and their families find much needed help in times of health crisis and getting the care they need,” said Crowell. “The folks at MHA are a Godsend to this community and ‘Heal The Music Day’ creates an endowment that allows them to continue their critical work.”
Many in our creative community have already committed to “Heal The Music Day,” pledging a percentage of their revenues on October 20 to support their fellow musicians and peers in the industry in times of medical crisis. Early proponents include Chris & Morgane Stapleton, Dierks Bentley, Earls of Leicester, Emmylou Harris, Ernie Ball, Gary Allan, Gene Watson, Glen Templeton, Jerry Douglas, John Prine, Keith Urban, Lee Brice, Marty Stuart, Mary Gauthier, Miranda Lambert, Peter Frampton, Rachael Hester, Rodney Crowell, Ronnie Dunn, Rory Feek, Rosanne Cash, Sam Bush, Shawn Camp, T Bone Burnett, Vince Gill, Dualtone Records, Nashville Musicians Union, Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI), New Frontier Touring, Warner Chappell Music and Wiatr & Associates.
