Kelleigh Bannen hasn't put out music for five years, but you better believe that when she puts out music it's worth the wait! Today we're doing our review of her latest EP Cheap Sunglasses that came out June 17th. If you haven't already bought it or need a little persuading keep reading the post! I promise that you'll want to get it after you listen to a few songs!
Welcome To The Party
This song is definitely in one of my top three for this album! It has an upbeat feeling to it while talking about a break-up. It basically covers how everyone has had break-ups and bad luck but that everyone has so welcome to the club! It's lyrics say "bring your own bee,r bring your own heartache, everybody's here, welcome to the party". It has a fun tone to it that makes being dumped or doing the dumping sound so much better!
If you're going through a break up, download this song and join the party!
I've included the music video for this song below! Fun fact, the unicorn float was Luke Bryan's! If this song isn't a summer album to all of us who don't live on a beach, lake, or body of water, then I don't know what it is! The song talks about being landlocked on a hot summer day. It has some super fun lyrics like "cold can sweatin' in the sun, can I get another hit from your water gun", that make it super fun. If you're landlocked and having a pool party make sure you add this to your playlist!
This is another one of my favorites! This song makes a play on how guys sometimes treat girls like a cheap pair of sunglasses. They are constantly leaving them behind, and breaking them. It starts out with a bit of a bluesy tone and talks about how guys sport their sunglasses all the time but won't miss them when they're gone! The lyrics "so easy to break, just throw away, well I'm not made of plastic, I don't want to be your cheap sunglasses" gives us this idea that we're comparing girls to sunglasses. It is such a good song! I love the play on words and how the lyrics and story are so ironic but so good!
Once Upon A
This song is so catchy! I love the "once upon a" line and how it makes you start thinking about different stories and fairy tales. I've posted the video below so you can take a listen for yourself.
All Good Things
This song. Another favorite from the album! It's an anthem song in my opinion. Lyrics like "all good things are wild and free, you're the fire in my veins, your the runaway train, and together we're crazy" make this song. It talks about a crazy type of love and how when you're with each other you feel reckless and wild. You are definitely going to want to check this song out!
Overall, I love this EP. Kelleigh, you have a beautiful collection of music here! Readers, if you can buy the whole album do it. If you can only buy one song my recommendation would be to buy Landlocked! Let us know in the comments what your favorite song is!
