Today I want to introduce you to a newer female singer, Olivia Lane! I've known of Olivia for about a year now and she is incredible! Keep reading to find out more about Olivia and her music career!
NN: Thanks so much for taking the time to answers some questions for me! Can you start by telling us a little bit about you and how you came about getting into the music industry?
Olivia: Thanks for the opportunity! My Mom was a Texas regional country singer so she really nurtured this artistic tendency she saw in me. She put me in theater, church choir, dance lessons, guitar lessons, etc., and I just fell in love with it all. Theater helped me fall in love with stories and guitar helped me learn how to make melodies so those two things together naturally made me fall in love with country music. I decided after college I needed to be in Nashville to go for my dream so after I graduated I packed up my car moved to music city!
NN: You are a singer/songwriter. Tell us a little bit about how and where you get inspiration for your songs that you write? What is one of your favorites that you've written?
Olivia: The songwriting process is so dynamic for me. I get ideas from everywhere! Sometimes a melody or a word will pop in my head and I’ll start playing around on the guitar and come up with a little diddy that then I record on my phone and bring to writes. There is no specific way I get ideas, they usually just pop up in my head and I try to write down as many of them as possible. One of my favorites I’ve written is a new one called ’She Fits’ that will be on the next EP coming out this summer. It’s so personal to me and my life. We’ve been playing it out recently and surprisingly people are really digging it! It’s cool to see a song so personal to me strike a chord with so many others.
NN: So "Make My Own Sunshine" is your current single, you just released at music video for it not to long ago, how did you come up with the concept for the video and what was recording that like?
I actually got into a minor fender bender about a month ago and the kindness of this man that I accidentally tapped the bumper of was so inspiring to me. I always try to find the silver lining in situations and I wanted the video to portray my positive outlook on life. Recording 'Make My Own Sunshine' was such a blast and the song is the essence of who I am. I just love singing it, it makes me happy!

NN: What is your favorite moment from everything music so far (could be from touring, recording, meeting fans, so on)?
Olivia: My favorite time is when I’m out on the road performing and meeting people. It’s starting to happen where 5 people, then 10 people, then 15 people know the lyrics to my songs and it’s mind blowing. I don’t think that feeling will ever get old to me. I love people and I love how music brings people together.
NN: You've opened for some pretty cool people such as Wynonna and Frankie Ballard, what's your favorite part about touring? What are three things you can't leave home without for a show?
Olivia: My favorite part about touring is meeting all kinds of people from all walks of life. When I meet fans out on the road, they inspire me to keep going. It’s awesome.
Three things I can’t leave home without are my headphones, my neck pillow (CRUCIAL for early flights!), and chapstick :)
NN: What does 2016 hold for your and your music career?
Olivia: We will be hitting the road pretty hard this year so I hope to get to play in as many cities as possible multiple times and keep putting out good music. We have so many new songs I can’t wait to release so keep your eyes out for some new music this summer!
NN: Your fans are obviously a huge part of your success and life, what would you say to them about their support for your music?
Olivia: I want to say to my fans a huge THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart. It’s so cool to relate to one another on a human, emotional level and I hope to keep putting out music you dig. It’s all about you guys for me and I hope you continue to come along on this crazy journey with me!
NN: Will you be partaking in CMA Fest? If so what will your part be in the music packed weekend? NashNews will be coming and we want to make sure we can see you and also let our readers know where they can see you!
Olivia: Yes! We are still working some details out but we will post my CMA schedule to my website and socials as soon as it’s finalized! Every year I host an event called ‘DivaJam’ and it’s all female supported show and super fun so look out for that event at The Listening Room.
Make sure you follow Olivia on social media so you can catch a show and stay up to date on her performances!
