Today I want to introduce you to The Springs Band! This Band is an up and coming country act made up of Holly and Stewart, who just so happened to be married! We talked all things from meeting in the Bluebird, musical influence, their favorite song they've written and so on! There's even a clip of that favorite song! You're going to want to keep reading! So here's what we talked about!
NN: How did you guys meet and when/why did you decide to form a duo and make music together?
Holly: We were both playing a writers round at the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, TN in January of 2011. We talked a little that night but later on we got together for some co-writers and just really hit it off. Four months later he asked me out on our first date! He took FOREVER haha but he's definitely been worth it haha! We decided to become a duo about two years later. We both realized we REALLY had to drive to work hard so we decided to form our own band and become a duo!
NN: Who are some musical influences you have had in your lives? What artists do you use to inspire your sound?
Stewart: I grew up listening to Conway Twitty, Joe Diffie, George Strait...all those guys that I love and have definitely been an influence to my career. Holly loves LeeAnn Womack, Trisha Yearwood, and Martina McBride. As far as who inspires our sound I think we are a mix between Little Big Town and Lady Antebellum. We try to keep our music clean and family friendly that way ANYONE can come to our show!
NN: You guys have shared the stage with many different artists including: FGL, Thompson Square, Jake Owen, Little Big Town and more, what is the best advice they have given you or most memorably conversation that you have had with these artists?
Holly: We opened up for Mark Wills in Georgia about a year ago and he has been BY FAR my favorite artist EVER to open for! THE MOST sincere, down to earth and genuine person we have EVER met!! He took the time to talk to us just about life in general and the life that goes along with this crazy career. He even gave us social media advice. He was a really awesome person and I'll never forget that show with him!
NN: What is your favorite song you have recorded and what was the story behind it?
Stewart: We wrote a song called Somethin' Bout' A Woman, Somethin' Bout' A Man and to me that's my favorite song we recorded and wrote together. We wrote it shortly after we stared dating. We just sat down one day on our couch and we were talking to each other about the things we loved about one another and that's how this song came about.
NN: What is a buket list item you have been able to cross off as musicians and what is one that you would love to be able to cross off?
Holly: Mhmmm, that's a great question. As far as bucket list, of course one thing we would LOVE to cross off is to be able to play the Opry and have a #1 song. Something that we have already marked off? I would say just being able to have been blessed to do this career with the one I love. I mean how many people can say they get to work with their husband doing what they LOVE every single day? To me that's a blessing in itself. A lot of people wouldn't want to work with their spouse but in this business it's GREAT. We can celebrate together when wonderful things happen and we can say we got through it together when bad things happen.
NN: As singer/songwriters, what part of the writing and recording process is your favorite and why?
Stewart: I think just seeing the song come alive and then being able to share it with our FRANS (friends/fans). These songs are our baby's and to take them outside of the room we wrote them in and put a full band behind them and then put it out for the world to hear is just the coolest thing to us! i think the whole process of writing and recording is just super cool.
NN: What is your favorite song that is on the radio currently?
Holly: We have become HUGE fans of Maren Morris's My Church and just anything that Mo Pitney comes out with. These two are the FUTURE of country music and we are PROUD to say that! They are great! They are ALWAYS on repeat in our home/cars haha!
NN: When traveling and touring what are your top three "can't leave home without it" items?
Holly: For me, ALL my nose sprays. I have bad allergy/sinus problems so that is a MUST, my phone charger and my make-up!
Stewart: I always have to have my backpack, it has all our touring info and contacts in it for the weekend. I also HAVE to have my belt, I HATE wearing pants without a belt haha. Lastly, my TS (The Springs) hat. I feel so weird without a ball cap on haha!
